About us
Oman Aquaculture Company LLC (OAC) was established in 2012 as a 50:50 joint venture partnership between Muscat Overseas Group and Abagold Limited of South Africa. Its primary goal is to tap into the rich marine biodiversity of Oman by implementing a land-based commercial aquaculture operation to cultivate Omani Abalone (Haliotis mariae), which is known locally as As'sufailah.
By leveraging this joint venture, OAC aims to harness the immense potential of Oman's marine resources. Through sustainable aquaculture practices, the company strives to produce high-quality Omani Abalone. This approach emphasizes utilizing land-based facilities to breed and cultivate these sought-after marine creatures, ensuring their availability while minimizing the impact on wild populations.
With its strategic partnership and dedication to responsible aquaculture, OAC aspires to contribute to the growth of Oman's aquaculture industry and promote the sustainable utilization of the country's marine resources

Abagold Limited is a South Africa-based company and is a leading producer of Abalone in the world and has been operating successfully for more than 30 years. Abagold produces around 600 tones of abalone every year and exports to Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia and Canada in different formats.
